Steven Harper Piziks — Superheroes and Chicks

Steven is proud to announce that, after a long hiatus from the genre, he has sold two more short stories. 'Ion Shells' will appear in PATH OF THE JUST, a superhero anthology edited by James Lowder which should show up in stores late this summer. He also sold 'Smoke and Mirrors' to Esther Friesner for TURN THE OTHER CHICK, the fifth Chicks in Chainmail anthology. Steven now has a story in every Chicks anthology except the first one.

Catherine Shaffer — "The Gypsy Queen"

Catherine has had a busy 2003 so far. She sold short story "The Gypsy Queen" to Baen's forthcoming TURN THE OTHER CHICK anthology, and she is a finalist in the 2003 L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future Contest. Her non-fiction science article "You Can Change Your Genes" appeared in Analog, and she will have a second science article ""If a Tree Falls...The Secret History of Global Environmental Catastrophe" published in Analog later this year.

Catherine has received an Honorable Mention (2000) and been a Semifinalist (2001) in previous Writer of the Future contests.

Anne Harris — Inventing Memory

UWG member Anne Harris is excited to announce her third science fiction novel INVENTING MEMORY, forthcoming in March 2004 from Tor. INVENTING MEMORY is a feminist romance that tackles the question, "Can women and men find happiness and liberation together?" and goes all the way to ancient Sumeria and back to find the answer.

Anne is also the author of THE NATURE OF SMOKE and ACCIDENTAL CREATURES, both published by Tor.

Welcome — Our New Home

The Untitled Writers' Group is pleased to have its web home here on TypePad. We'll be some time migrating and rearranging things as we get cozy, but we'll be posting fabulous new announcements soon.

For new visitors... The Untitled Writers' Group is a group of eight science fiction and fantasy writers — some published, some not — who get together to critique each others' work and offer support and encouragement. Our web page is our place to share our happiness when we make sales and win awards (we've done both!). By writers' group standards, we are a positively ancient group (founded in late 1992), and we will post our group rules for those who want to see how we work. Watch this blog for links to writer bios, links to homepages, and our funny and sometimes very odd quotes of things we've said during critiques.
